Constipation
Constipation is a condition where evacuations are irregular or difficult or where quantities of impacted faeces line the colon. A healthy person should normally have 2 or 3 bowel movements per day, where today it might be considered more normal for this to be less frequent than once per day.
A person suffering from constipation may experience a reduction of the effective diameter of the bowel due to the impacted waste lining the surface of the colon. Over time this progressive build up has the effect of narrowing the stools, and reducing the effectiveness of the mucus which lines and lubricates the colon. Constipation builds up slowly over time and the affected person simply gets used to the symptoms and for them they become normality.
Constipation also leads to food waste remaining in the colon over an extended period of time, releasing toxins into the body. This can produce a general felling of lethargy, as well as contributing to joint and muscular pain and headaches.
Colon hydrotherapy (colonic irrigation) can be an extremely effective procedure for easing the pain and discomfort caused by constipation. Relief from constipation is achieved by gentle massage of the abdomen whilst cleansing the colon with warm filtered water in a safe, painless and clean procedure.
